World War I technically ended in 1919.

Germany signed an armistice with the Allies in November 1918 which marked only the end of actual fighting, but not the war itself. The war is considered still ongoing until the terms of surrender are formalized and signed. That occurred in 1919 during the Paris Peace Conference which resulted in the Treaty of Versailles.
