Trying to imagine what it must be like to be a soldier in medieval or ancient battles, one of the first things that came to my mind was that they must have gotten pretty thirsty rather quickly, especially if they had armor that made everything hotter and sweatier, especially during summers, and after a while they'd probably be pretty hungry as well. Did soldiers tend to carry water and food to battle, that they would consume once they aren't in the front line?
