The Mongols conquered China and became the ruling nobility. The Mughals conquered much of northern India and became the ruling nobility. The Ottomans conquered Anatolia and became the ruling nobility. The Spanish (anachronism - More contemporaneously, the Castillians, Leonese, Portuguese, Aragonese, Catalonians) conquered (or re-Conquered, as they would have it) Muslim Iberia and became the ruling nobility.

Add to that the Arabs in Egypt and the middle east, the Spanish in Aztec and Inca domains, the Greeks in Persia and Egypt, and probably quite a few other examples that don't spring to mind immediately.
