I know that you do request for discussion to mind the 20-year rule and offer an historical perspective, but after some discussion, we simply don't feel that, as framed, this question can be allowed given our rules regarding modern political discussion, as it necessarily opens a backdoor for discussion of just how intertwined public and private interests are these days.
If you want to resubmit without asking for modern comparison, and simply phrased along the lines of, say "What was the relationship between the US government and private business interests like during the [mid-20th century/early-20th century/late-19th century/etc.]. Hopefully that would get a similar answer to what you are looking for now without creating disallowed discussion about the current state of things.
