Can I get askhistorian's perspective on redlining and institutional racism

by BuddhistSagan

I was watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_hx30zOi9I and it taught me a few things and I just wanted to run it by ask historian because I know you guys have great knowledge of history and how things got to be where they are today.

Thanks.

What is it specifically that you're wondering about? It might be better if you write out the arguments made in the video (that are about history) so our experts don't have to sit through a 6 minute video.

hi! on the subject of "redlining" mentioned in the video, there have been several good threads within the context of "white flight" and deurbanisation in the US, particularly wrt Detroit

Also, this question is worth x-posting to /r/AskSocialScience

There are a wealth of sources on the youtube page of this video by the way.
