I'm interested in study of genocide & ethnic cleansing. Norman Naimark (Fires of Hatred) includes the Armenians in his study of ethnic cleansing, and there seems to be a valid point to be made that the intent against the Armenians was removal, not extermination. Is there a good work that lays out the argument for genocide vs. ethnic cleansing? Or is it maybe because the Armenian Genocide was termed and categorized before the term 'ethnic cleansing' came about?
hi! not discouraging further discussion here, particularly to provide a summary of arguments on both sides, but just fyi, this topic has generated quite alot in this sub; hopefully you'll find something useful in these earlier posts
