It said "If this offends you, you need a history lesson". I don't mind the shirt at all, but I don't know much about the flag. Why shouldn't I be offended?
The general objection to displays of the Confederate Battle Flag is that the CSA was a nation created to propagate slavery, so I'm sure it's the old "The civil war wasn't really about slavery" canard.
