Does anyone have any information on Robert Dodd, a poet from Northumberland, England who is known to have fought in the American Civil War?

by StickyBellyFlapCock

Robert Dodd's life is currently being researched by local historians here in the UK, however, very little is known about him. Indeed, it is my understanding that none of his poetry can be located.

It would be fantastic if Reddit could come up trumps so that I can pass information on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you narrow things down to his regiment or at the very least his state of service?
