What ideas and institutions persisted after the fall of the British empire?

You're going to have to narrow down your question so we can give a good comprehensive answer. Are you talking about specific former colonies? Or are you talking about a particular field, like sports, or law, or the spread of the English language?

If I may expand slightly on the question - to what extent was there a British Empire that did exist and now doesn't, if you see what I mean?

Obviously everyone knows what OP means - after the period of decolonisation post WW2 - but was there officially a British Empire to dismantle? What about all those things we now call the Overseas Territories - the Falklands, Tristan da Cunha, Anguilla and so on? Can they be seen as the remnants of the Empire, or is there a line drawn, before which they were Empire and after which they weren't?
