This is taken in Saigon, so it should be mainly drawn from French and Japanese elements. It's obviously cobbled together from many different sources. If you can identify any specific aspects (sword, hat, etc) I'd appreciate it. T
That was a pirate ^[link1] who joined the French. His "uniform" was clearly cobbled together. See ^[here] for French "Tirailleurs" of local ethnicities at the time.
Which in turn borrowed some elements from military uniforms of the Nguyen Dynasty (last Vietnamese Dynasty) ^[here] His boots looked like they were from the Japanese: ^[here]
