As the largest military undertaking the ANZAC had ever been involved in, it was of great importance to the Australians and New Zealanders. As to it's significance for the war as a whole, besides diverting forces from the main theatre of war ie the western front, and killing large numbers of Turkish soldiers, it essentially achieved nothing.
