Is this just a myth? I have heard people tell me that wings used to be dirt cheap compared to any other parts of a chicken before Buffalo wings drastically increased their demand.
Was the popularization of Buffalo wings starting in the 1970s really responsible for the increase in price of chicken wings or are they unrelated?
I don't have the data for wings specifically, but the price for a whole chicken should reflect on that. This data set from the USDA (page 4 has the data for whole chickens) shows a general trend in the increase in price for chickens since 1970.
