They were nowhere close to finishing an atomic bomb. They didn't have even an experimental nuclear reactor working. The path from there to a bomb in the United States was 2.5 years, and that was already with a full commitment to make a nuclear weapon. And the US case is still the world's fastest bomb development. Even if the Germans had actually been trying to make an atomic bomb (which they weren't), they would have been years away from one.

Here's a post by /u/restricteddata about the German atomic bomb project. In it, he says:

They decided, at that point, that [developing an atomic bomb] wasn't worth it, and that nobody else was likely to do it.
