One of the things you want to look for in a serious history text is who published it. University of North Carolina Press is probably the best for the American Revolution. Anything with the imprimatur of the Omohundro Institute is a safe bet for a good book on the subject. Finally, you want to look at the author's professional affiliations. Does he work for a big school or a well-regarded organization?

Affiliation: Fox News, America's worst news source.

Author: Brian Kilmeade, whose only education is a bachelor's degree from a fourth-tier college.

As such, without having read the book, I can tell you that no, it is not a good history book.
