It's good form to stick to one calendar in any given work. This is particularly improtant for covering periods that overlap the Julian-Gregorian tradition. In many works on the Maya, for instance, you will see the author specifically mark that the dates given correspond with the Gregorian calendar, even though the events occured when the Julian was in use.
