Jesus's disciples had a bunch of Hebrew/Aramaic and Latin and Greek names and nicknames. These names then became important to Christians, so they used them for their children.

Way back then, languages like English, French, and Spanish did not exist yet, and neither did the names they use. The languages that did exist changed over time into our modern ones, and at the same ime the names mutated, too, so that Yochanan became Jehan which became both John and Jean. Yoseph became Joseph which is often shortened to Joe.

Many people have a habit of translated foreign names like they would phrases in a foreign language, so that the same king can be called Ludwig, Louis, Luis, or Lewis in different languages' history books.

So when they translate the Bible, they translate many of the peoples' names, too. After all, Jesus is the Latin for Yeshua.
