Both my suggestions are fairly limited in scope, but they are worth reading.

--The Dead Hand, by David Hoffman.

Mostly focused on the end of the cold war, but it has an interesting perspective in the way the Star Wars program created a whole raft of problems for the US/USSR relationship, and may have contributed to the collapse of the Soviet Union. My summary might be a bit off--it's been a while since I've read it--but I do remember really enjoying it.

--Sword and Shield by Andrew and Mitrohkin.

A history of the KGB, compiled from documents smuggled out of the USSR by a defecting Mitrohkin. Is laser-focused on the KGB, less on the context of the Cold War in general...but seeing as KGB/CIA were essentially the "front lines" of the cold war, I figured it might be something you'd be interested in.
