I checked the FAQs and didn't find a question regarding this, so I thought I'd ask. Does it really matter where you get a history degree from, or are some schools better for history?
For undergad or postgrad? And what do you want to do with the degree?
It only really matters if you want to go to graduate school. You might get less attention from professors going to big famous schools as an undergraduate than going toa SLAC. Even at the graduate level, it all depends on what field you want to specialize in.
The most important thing for undergrad is making sure that there are profs who are active in a field that interests you. If you really want to study medieval Europe, but a school has no one that specializes in Europe befofe 1800, definitely reconsider. If you're unsure of your field, it's best to see that profs have recent publications so thar you're working with the best people in their fieldm
