My daughter is in kindergarten and is starting to get more interested in history. We read a lot of story books and I'd like to find more history books to read together, as well as history books near her reading level. She's also getting into graphic novels, so recommendations kid-appropriate historical graphic novels would be great too.

After reading AskHistorians for a while now I'm not sure how accurate your average book in the kids section of the library would be. I thought I would AskHistorians for good stories that don't revolve around George Washington chopping down cherry trees with his wooden teeth or something.

In another thread I saw a recommendation for 'The Unbreakable Code' by Sara Hoagland Hunter. She also really enjoyed 'The Camping Trip that Changed America' by Barb Rosenstock, which we picked up on a trip to Yosemite.

Right now she's interested in everything from ancient Egypt to World War II, so I'm happy to get recommendations covering any time or place. If anyone has recommendations for books covering Jamaican or black American history specifically, that would be bonus points.
