To clarify, I'm wondering if there was ever a time a decade or so after Pearl Harbor that a joke or multiple jokes became common, similar to how, 14 years after 9/11, the "jet fuel can't melt steel beams" line is popular.
I don't know whether there were any jokes on a massive scale, but I do know there was a conspiracy theory that the US government was aware Pearl Harbor was going to happen. It was sort of similar to the way George W. Bush was blamed for 9/11 by some people. It was about as taken seriously as some 9/11 conspiracy theories, so it is likely there may have been many jokes about it, but remember this was before the internet and memes, so chances are there wasn't anything as common as "jet fuel can't melt steel beams."
