New to this subreddit and fascinated with my findings so far!!!
Contrary to popular belief the Nazis actually lessened restrictions on firearm ownership in Germany. Well, except if you were Jewish and then you weren't allowed to own firearms at all. It was this small minority in Germany (Jews in Germany made up less than 1% of the population) that people seem to concentrate on when they claim that the Nazis instituted firearm bans. The reason for denying the Jews firearms was because the Nazis didn't believe that the Jews were real Germans and put in place a program to strip Jews of all their rights which of course ended with the Nazis making the decision to exterminate the Jewish population of not only Germany but of the areas they controlled during WW2.
