Was there ever a public movement in the US to promote Eisenhower to a 6-star position, similar to the post-war attempt to promote MacArthur? If not, why not?
I just learned the other day that the only general promoted to a six star position was George Washington. This was done posthumously so that no other officer could ever outrank him.
