In a recent thread on /r/movies, it was claimed that the uniform of the Allgemeine SS was based on the dress uniform of the Massachusetts State Police. Is there any truth to this claim? Was one based on the other, or was it just a common cut at the time? I must admit the resemblance is pretty striking.
I fully submit that the uniforms look a LOT alike. However, there does not appear to be any none circumstantial evidence for this relation.
