as i know, while conquesting england, william was helped by feudals from britanny and flanders. after conquest william gave lands to his companions:

  1. that means the lands were given not only to normans?
  2. he gave lands to all of his companions? thank u in advance

The majority of lands were given to Norman leaders; they then would distribute them to their knights, and so-on, meaning that somewhere along the line knights from Britanny and Flanders would most likely have received some land, yes. Most of the people coming across in the original 8000 would have gained some land as result, but not necessarily all. Hope that helps!
