The Iliad takes many themes from Gilgamesh. For instance when Gilgamesh refuses to marry her she flees back to heaven and is comforted by her father Anu (the sky god) and his feminine counterpart who takes the feminine form of Anu (I cannot remember her name now). In book 5 of the Iliad Aphrodite is wounded by Diomedes while rescuing her son Aeneas from the battlefield. she flees back to Olympus and is comforted by her mother Διώνη (Dione) (a feminine form of the name of Zeus that appears nowhere else in the corpus) and her father Zeus. It is quite easy to see the similarities where a goddess of love is comforted by joined male and female sky gods. The fact that Διώνη appears nowhere else in all greek literature and the similarity to the above scene, to me at least, point to a clear connection to Gilgamesh at some point.
