I need to find some good sources or historians commenting on this era. Anything related to arts (most specifically jazz). I can't seem to find any, I've found some stuff by Howard Zinn and a song by Louis Armstrong, but I'd like more than just songs. Anybody already know of anything related to this topic regarding sources? Thanks!
Well, you can find a little bit of modern commentary from Stanley Crouch, though that's far from a primary source.
Now, obviously Langston Hughes and W. E. B. Dubois are essential reading if you're interested in the Harlem Renaissance. As far as music goes, much of the early Duke Ellington compositions were written in Harlem, so they might be worth a listen.
