I just read in my history book that many Jews sent their money to Swiss banks in order to save it from the nazis and to withdraw it after the war, my book goes on saying how we discovered just recently what happened of it. So What happened of it?
In the United States if someone dies and doesn't leave a will then the money/assets typically get forfeited over to the government. I'd have to imagine the Swiss have a similar law for if the bank isn't contacted about an account every X number of years
In 1995, the World Jewish Congress actually approached the Swiss government and various Swiss Banks with that exact question. They accused Swiss banks of intentionally hiding assets of victims of the holocaust. That's probably what your book meant by recently.

During the hearings, there were accusations from some prominent members of the American government that Switzerland intentionally collaborated with the Nazis. Stuart Eizenstat accused Swiss banks of being "notably uncooperative in helping identify dormant bank accounts"
An employee of the Union Bank of Switzerland, Christoph Meili, testified that he'd witnessed the destruction of records of deposits from Nazi Germany. The banks were accused of destroying evidence.
While we might not completely know what happened to the Jewish money, the lawsuit resulted in Swiss banks paying $1.2 billion in restitution. This restitution was managed by Swiss tribunal and attempted to pay heirs of former account holders. There's been well over 100,000 claims.
