I'm specifically asking what day-to-day life was like, rather than social or political aspects.

I'm guessing a lot of this depends on the geographical location of a particular village, and the exact time period it existed in.

What were farms like? What farming techniques were there? What about hunting? How did they build houses? And for that matter, what were the houses like? Did windows have glass or were there just shutters over a square hole in the wall? How did peasants make clothes? Did dyes exist? etc.

What I'm really after is a book detailing the lives of peasants, but I'm not sure if anything like that exists, or where to start looking.
