Not as much as the enlightenment itself. Pre enlightenment jews lived in a sort of communal dictatorship of a rabbi. During the enlightenment the rabbis power faded and jews became more secular.

Zionism was a way for rabbis to hold onto authority by creating a sort of mission. Infact Herzl himself was an atheist.
