It was too large to administer and political differences among the different factions. Some wanted a Federalist structure vs a Centralist structure. After the dead of Simon Bolivar (president) and the assassination of Antonio Jose de Sucre (his successor) led to the dissolution of the state. There are other factors, such as regional differences, but the ones mentioned above are the big ones.
