Did any northern US Presidents ever move to D.C. and buy slaves?

Just curious. Also curious if slavery was legal in DC at the time. I forget a lot from history class.

Slavery was legal in DC, yes. Maryland and Virginia were both slave states after all.

According to this site no Northern president purchased slaves in DC. Some were slaveholders at some point their lives, and some had significant others who owned slaves.
