When and why did the modern Indian subcontinent develop such a rich peacekeeping tradition?

I recently found out that India, Bangladesh and Pakistan are the three largest contributors to the UN Peacekeeping Force. Is there some historical reason for this, other than the disciplined and professional militaries of all 3 countries?

Money is good, and labor is expendable. The three countries are the most populous nations on earth, bombing for about 1.5 billion people.
