I found this photograph in a frame at a Goodwill store in Northern NJ. It was in a shabby metal frame with crudely cut glass. I took a liking to the picture and grabbed it. The frame fell apart at the register, so they just kept it and gave me the photo for free.
Anything you can tell me about this photograph would be appreciated. I'm most curious about what time period it is from and what country the man is from.
The center-parted hair and high collar were fashionable for men in the 1910 - 1920 time period. There's a famous picture of Woodrow Wilson, taken in 1912, in which he is wearing this style of collar and a pince-nez just like the one in your photo. You can find it in the Library of Congress' picture archive. So it seems to me that you could date the photo to the 1910s and not be too far off. As for the country where the picture was taken, I cannot say.
