What were nordics and anglo saxons upto in all this time? I mean, for a population that is pretty successful at present they seem to have left no trace in ancient history? Was it the cold climate? Are there any references to relevant phenomena in other cultures? Thank you!
Issue #1: The northern Europeans left no written records. We know what was happening down around the Mediterranean because the Sumerians invented writing c. 3000 BC. So all kinds of interesting politics could have been going on but no one left us records.
Issue #2: Anglo-Saxons did not exist yet. When a bunch of Germanic raiders from Saxony,Frisia, and Anglia settle down in Britain well after the Romans left, then you develop Anglo-Saxons. Also, I would not say they exist any more, after a thousand years of blending with Britons, Norse, Danes, Normans, Scots, Irish, French, &c. What you have now are English.
Issue #3: I'm guessing that by the term Nordics you mean Scandinavians.
What they mostly were doing was staying home farming, breeding cold-resistant livestock, and inventing cross-country skiing.
The Goths first appear in literary sources about 263, which is after your period of interest. The Goths came out of Gotland, which makes them originally Scandinavian. If we believe Jordanes, which not everyone does, their migrations south started c. 1500 BC.
