Why did the Romans name the second brightest planet in the sky after their main god, Jupiter?

I was looking at the planets last night and figured if it were up to me, I would name the brightest planet Jupiter. Venus wasn't nearly as important as Jupiter as a god.

Was it coincidence that Jupiter, the largest planet in the solar system, was named by the ancient Romans/Greeks after the king/father of the gods? Or did they somehow have an idea of its true size?
Did ancient Greeks know that Olympos was the highest mountain in Greece when they placed their gods there? Did they know Jupiter is the largest planet when they named it after the king of gods, Zeus?
