In 1944 (the year the GI bill was passed there were approx. 50k college grads in the US. By 1950 there were 500k. Has any other legislation spurred such a large demographic shift?

The GI Bill also gave favorable interest rates for home loans for veterans. This combined with the mass production of the automobile and the investment into the the highway system under Eisenhower, contributed greatly to the development of the suburbs and "Levittown's."
