Hello! I'm from a Japanese Association where I volunteer in the "Traditional Japanese Games" department. There, we have games like Karuta, Shogi, Go and Hanafuda and we want to teach to as many people as we can, though the department is still fresh in our Association and city. The point is that I know how to play them and a bit of their history, but I want to learn more about their cultural impact in the japanese society in the past, like how/where/when/why did the japanese people use to play them, what tactics did they use, etc... Any information is welcomed!
I recommend you also ask this question on /r/newsokur, which is largest of the subreddits with a mainly Japanese userbase. They don't have as high standards on answers as there are here, but you might get good responses. People mainly use Japanese there, but presumably you can read it.
