Hey guys, I've got a book request. I'm looking for comprehensive but approachable books on the modern Middle East (post WWI). Anyone have any suggestions?
The Great War for Civilization by Robert Fisk comes to mind.
I've just finished a 200-level history of the modern Middle East. Our course text is Cleveland and Bunton's A History of the Modern Middle East.
Albert Hourani's A History of the Arab Peoples and Eugene Rogan's The Arabs are considered foundational textbooks by most Middle East Studies departments.
