[Naval History] When was the last recorded instance of a galley/galleass participating in combat? Wikipedia says Venice didn't commission a ship-of-the-line until 1660.

Did anyone acknowledge and lament the "death" of the galley ship, which had existed in different forms since antiquity?

I believe the last use of galleys in combat was when the Russian Fleet, including galleys, attacked Turku in Finland in 1854, during the Crimean War.

The last use of galleys in combat in the Mediterranean was at the battle of Matapan, between Venice and the Ottomans in 1717.
