I want to apologize, because I have had to remove your question. I figure I owe you some explanation.

As you may have noticed, the vast majority of posts that responded to your question have been removed. The issue has been that the posts all fall short of subreddit standards for what constitutes an acceptable answer. Either they rely solely on Wikipedia articles for sources, or they freely mix discussion of current events with historical events. As these comments have been removed, there has been a flood of more comments amounting to "why is this a comment graveyard?".

In cases like this, we moderators sometimes have to make the tough decision to remove a thread that generates only bad quality posts.

If you wish, you may try editing and resubmitting your question. However, I would suggest that you wait a few days for the natural inclination of people to want to discuss the recent supreme court decision to die down. Secondly, I recommend leaving out "the same as we are seeing against gay marriage" from your question title. Seeing that, people naturally assume that it is ok to discuss current events, and get caught breaking our no current events rule

So can someone tell us what was the opposition's arguments were for interracial marriage? What what was their reaction to it being passed? (No comparison please, just facts)
