[META] AskHistorians Showcase Submissions [Middle East]

by vertexoflife

Hello everyone! Today I come before you to ask for help on a little project: the AskHistorians Showcase!

What is the Showcase you ask? Well I'm so glad you asked! The showcase will be a page of some of Askhistorians greatest answers presented under 10 general categories. The purpose of this showcase is to show our readers, other historians, and interested people what exactly it is that we do here! Furthermore we will be linking it to a greater community page for interested parties to learn even more!

In order to do this however, we need your help in selecting and nominating some of your saved, favorite, or top quality answers from this subreddit!

How will we proceed? Well, I will make 10 separate nomination threads over the coming weeks for you to nominate your favorite answers in the ten categories below. Today's thread is for Middle East!

So please give us your favorite Middle East answers past and present!

Future Categories: Europe, North America, Ancient World, Medieval World, Cultural History

Past Categories: Military History, Asia, Africa, Middle and South America,

There are a lot of options for the "Was Jesus REAL!" question, but I'd venture this one is one of the better, if not the best one here. /u/talondearg did a pretty comprehensive job there.

Can we submit something we wrote ourselves? I gave a few answers some months ago on the link between change of language and religion in medieval Islamic world and thought the questions were interesting enough. (I answered in 3-4 different replies to different point raised, so I dunno if that counts).

I really enjoyed /u/PaxOttomanica answer to "How brutal was the Arab slave trade in comparison to the European and American slave trade?" asked by /u/Packzter: http://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/comments/3a9ea5/how_brutal_was_the_arab_slave_trade_in_comparison/csazzlz
