Why did coffee consumption in the US plummet 1992 – 1995, then quickly recover?

I'm looking at historical coffee consumption in the US, and noticed a weird thing with it bottoming out in 1995. Then quickly recovering. Any ideas?

It is much better to look at longer-term trends, and in this specific case proper scaling of quantities.

That graphic, based on USDA data, is more informative, in particular the sharp increase in (caffeinated) soft drinks from the 50s to 00s.
