In September of 1993 2nd battalion of the Royal Canadian Regiment augmented by French troops on a UN deployment in the Balkans were sent in between serbian and croatian forces to supervise a cease fire.

Upon advancing to the front lines the came under heavy machine gun, artillery, and anti tank fire from croatian forces and proceeded to return fire. The resulting battle lasted 15 hours and resulted in four canadian soldiers being injured before pushing back the croatian forces.
