If you want short, you should check out Crash Course US History on YouTube. It's a series of videos that are probably about 12 minutes a piece. I don't remember exactly how many there are. But that's more of a very broad strokes series, usually covering an entire decade or presidency in one video.

The History Channel has an absolutely terrible reputation, and every bit of it is deserved. I would not recommend The Story of Us.

I know you're asking for more of a video/audio series, but the best answer is always to pick up a book. Eric Foner, a well-respected and widely acclaimed historian, wrote a survey of American history called Give me Liberty! It looks at how American society and politics has been built around different definitions of liberty, and examines what happens when those different definitions come into conflict.
