Looking for a recommendation for a book about Colonial America / Founding Fathers / Revolutionary War

by WhatsAllTheCommotion

My knowledge of this period consists of what I learned in junior high. I'd like a good survey of the period that's readable and will provide enough insight that other areas of interest might be sparked. I'm reading Six Frigates now (Ian Toll) and loving it. Would like a broader sweep of history though as an entree. Thanks in advance.

John Ferling's A Leap in the Dark is a good option. He covers from 1750-1800.

The wiki also has a good list covering the period you're interested in.
