I know that a lot of people in the GDR worked for the state party of the former GDR and only a little part belonged to the working group. For example 3/4 of the youth worked in FDJ (An organisation to employ young workers for the state party of the former GDR) whereas only 1/4 of the youth belonged to the working group. But how did this dominance of one secter of work influence the economy of GDR?
The Freie Deutsche Jugend wasn't / isn't a business concern, but a youth group aimed at educating teens in socialism. A political girl scouts / boy scouts kinda thing.
