I've been doing a lot of research on the Ottoman Empire for a personal project, and something that has stumped me is... I am having an extremely difficult time finding visual references for everyday structures. There is a lot of information on various mosques, bridges, etc. but not a lot on, say, what a house or residential district looked like, what the house layout was, interior design, common household items, etc.
If anyone could help point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it! (Or if there are some resources I may be missing due to not using the correct search terms.)
Try the scholarship of Andre Raymond. He works on the late medieval/early modern Middle Eastern city. His first big work was on Cairo, but you should be able to find some stuff about other cities within the corpus of his works. He wrote quite a bit in French though.
