Did the poor colonists support the revolution more than others? What was the demographic breakdown between revolutionaries, loyalists, and people who just didn't care?
Addendum question that might answer OP's: Is it true that there was a radical left movement in the revolution that was suppressed by the Founding Fathers? That there was a movement of true egalitarians who were co-opted by the now famous founders who used the mass appeal of that rhetoric to push their more elitist, class based goals?
