Looking for a book on the Boer War. There are quite some available, so I'm having a hard time choosing one. Any suggestions would be more than welcome. An introductory level book would be the best as I'm delving into this topic for the first time.
Thomas Packenham's The Boer War is a reasonable primer.
Its a bit aged now but its basically sound. The exception being that he seems to have recanted on Baden Powell having starved and or expelled large numbers of natives from Mafeking to stretch the rations for Europeans during the seige.
