As the Manhattan Project progressed, and the first few tests were conducted successfully, was any consideration given to releasing some information about the project in an effort to demoralize the Japanese?

Surely there were rumors that the Americans were developing something truly awful. Why didn't the Truman administration release a video reel of a successful test? Seems like at least a thought someone would have entertained, so I'm sure there were good reasons for not doing so, but curious if anyone has looked into this.

Thanks!
